Martin R. Stuchtey

In an interview with WIRTSCHAFTbunt magazine, Prof. Dr. Martin R. Stuchtey, founder of The Landbanking Group and Systemiq Ltd., emphasized the need for a systemic change towards a resource-decoupled model of prosperity.

He highlighted the fact that we are currently at a critical juncture in our relationship with nature, and that traditional definitions of prosperity are no longer adequate. With an emphasis on the importance of valuing and protecting natural capital, and the need to decouple our economy from non-renewable resources through the adoption of circular economy principles.

Currently a staggering amount of resources are being wasted, a typical product in Europe loses 95% of its material value over its 9-year lifespan. We must change our approach on resources and prosperity and make climate and resource protection the new business model.

This is the mission of The Landbanking Group, which is working to create a new asset class based on natural capital. By enabling sustainable land management, the Group is able to increase the value of natural capital, creating benefits for farmers, investors, and the planet as a whole.
